The Baltimore Running Festival
By: Janelle Hauserman
The biggest racing event in Baltimore every October is the Baltimore Running Festival. Last year in 2016, over 20,000 runners participated in what is known as one of the best races on the East Coast. This year, the running festival is taking place on Sunday October 21. There are five different races to choose from, including the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 5K, BaltiMORON-a-thon (Complete the 5K and Half marathon on the same day), and a kids fun run for children 12 and under. The races begin in downtown Baltimore with staggered start times; the earliest is the 5K at 7:30 a.m. This year, the course has been adjusted for a new finish line in the inner harbor! There is still time to register for the event (until October 18) and you can find the registration page here: https://events.racepartner.com/BaltimoreRunFest/. Free race photos, a tee shirt, and medal are included with the registration fee.
Don’t like to run? You can still volunteer as an Expo or Race Crew volunteer here: http://corrigansports.racepartner.com/baltimore-running-festival-vol. Runners also love a good cheering section. If you don’t want to run or volunteer, come out to a spot along the course to encourage racers!
