Volunteer subjects needed
Wanted: Healthy adult volunteers to donate a unit of blood (similar amount if you were donating blood to the Red Cross) for a research study looking to extend the shelf life of human platelets in a blood bank.
Major injuries often require the transfusion of donated human platelets to help the victim form a blood clot. Donated platelets can only be stored in a blood bank for up to 5 days. This short storage time does not allow easy transfer of human platelets to civilians in need or military personnel who suffer combat related injuries overseas.
You may be eligible for this study if you are:
- Age 18 years or older
- Weigh more than 110 lbs
- Are not pregnant
- Have not donated blood in the past 8 weeks
All participants in this study will be provided snacks and compensated with $50 per blood donation
