GSA's Garden Day with Baltimore Free Farm
On the morning of Oct. 19th, students, family, and friends got together to join Baltimore Free Farm on their Garden day! The Baltimore Free Farm is an egalitarian collection of gardeners and activists whose mission is to provide access to healthy food for all. They have a community garden, vegetable farm, and community kitchen that hosts Food Rescue Baltimore all near Roosevelt Park in Hampden.
We had the opportunity to harvest Melothria scabra, or Cucamelons, potatoes, and goji berries. We also had a chance to plant Kale, learn about how resources like wood can be used to grow plants (permaculture), and even feed some chickens living on the farm! Baltimore Free Farm is hosting another Garden Day event this month on November 9th from 11am-1pm. For information on how to volunteer for any of their upcoming events, you can check out their facebook.
