Meet the 2018 GSA Executive Board
Megan Lynch, President
Megan is a fourth year in the Human Genetics program in the lab of Dr. Braxton Mitchell studying epigenetics and the methylation pattern of cases with familial hyperlipidemia. She has participated in GSA for three years and this will be her second year serving on the executive board. Her favorite hobbies include yoga, working out, and spending time playing board games with friends.
Ramon Martinez, Vice President
Ramon is a fourth year in the Pharmaceutical Sciences program in the lab of Dr. Paul Shapiro. His work focuse on cancer pharmacology, specifically the development of novel kinase inhibitors for the ERK2 signalling pathway, which is upregulated in melanoma cancers. In his spare time, Ramon loves to travel and museum hop. He's a beer connoisseur, movie buff, and foodie who appreciates the great food scene Baltimore has to offer.
Susannah is a fifth year in the Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) program in the lab of Dr. Tonya Webb. Her lab focuses on cancer immunology and the function of natural killer T (NKT) cells in anti-tumor immunity. Her research is on NKT cell biology and function in a mouse model of breast cancer. She became involved with GSA in March of 2016. Outside of lab work, she enjoys playing board games, indoor climbing, and going hiking and backpacking. Susannah also has two cats, Zippy and Ziva, with no tails since they are Manx cats.
Alyssa Grogan, Secretary
Alyssa is a fourth year Molecular Medicine student in Dr. Katia Kontrogianni-Konstantopoulos' lab studying cardiac muscle physiology and the role of obscurins in the heart. This is her third year being involved with GSA and her second serving on E-board. Outside of school and lab, she likes to play tennis, explore Baltimore with friends, and spend time with her kitten.
Katie Gwilliam, Public Relations Officer
Katie is a third year in the Human Genetics program in Dr. Ronna Hertzano's lab, studying hearing loss and transcritption factors necessary for inner ear devolpement and maintenance. She is excited to serve her first year on GSA's executive board after serving as the Human Genetics representative last year. In her freetime, Katie enjoys cooking and baking, teachig herself the ukulele, sailing, and hiking.
Janelle Hauserman, Graduate Council Representative
Janelle is a fifth year in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program and has been involved with GSA for four years, serving as the Biochemistry representative for three and the Secretary during the 2017-2018 academic year. She is in Dr. Katia Kontrogianni-Konstantopolous' lab studying muscle biology and physiology, specifically the role of Myosin Binding Protein-C in muscle function. In her spare time, Janelle likes running, reading, and exploring all of the restaurants in Baltimore.
