Service Spotlight: Volunteer Opportunities in Baltimore
This column of the Grad Gazette will feature volunteer opportunities in and around Baltimore. Since the GSA and other student organizations have put large volunteer and service events on hold due to COVID-19, this column will highlight different ways you can volunteer in our community. Have an organization you’d like highlighted in a future issue of the Gazette? Please send an email to Sydney Ashton, GSA Public Relations Officer and editor of the Grad Gazette, at umb.gsa.pro@gmail.com.
This month’s spotlight: Baltimore Tree Trust
The Baltimore Tree Trust aims to restore Baltimore’s urban forest through increased tree planting, community engagement and advocacy. Since they were founded in 2008, they have planted over 9,500 trees on private property and in disadvantaged neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City.
Want to help Baltimore Tree Trust work toward the ultimate goal of achieving 40% canopy cover in Baltimore? You can sign up to volunteer to plant trees in your neighborhood through their planting events and stewardship opportunities. You can also donate to their cause.
Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming events, webinars, classes and more.
