2018 Advancement to Candidacy Ceremony

The Graduate School and the Graduate Student Association would once more like to congratulate all students who became PhD candidates in 2017, and thank those that participated in the Advancement to Candidacy Ceremony on March 15, 2018.
During the ceremony, candidates and audience were treated to remarks from 2017 GSA President, Courtney Chandler, and Elizabeth Weingartner, UMB GPILS alumna. Courtney extended congratulatory comments to all the candidates for their hard work and dedication to reach this milestone in their academic careers. Elizabeth gave an inspiring talk on what motivated her to join the GPILS program and how her perseverance allowed her to be successful both in the program and now at her first job post-PhD. Afterwards, the candidates and their faculty mentors were individually recognized as they received their certificates and portfolios from Courtney and Dr. Erin Golembewski, Senior Associate Dean of the Graduate School.
