- Events
- Doctoral Hooding Ceremony: The GSA and Graduate School co-sponsor this graduation ceremony for Ph.D. students.
- Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week: On the initiative of the GSA, Governor Parris Glendening declared this week in April. Various events are held, including the annual Graduate Research Conference.
- Graduate Research Conference: Students from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County present their research in a scientific environment.
- Orientation Week: Co-sponsored by the GSA and the Graduate School, events include the crab feast, movie night, campus tours, Big Brother and Big Sister program, and orientation.
- Ph.D. Career Day: Featuring speakers with careers in government, online publishing, and patent and science law.
- Seminars: The GSA helps the Graduate School plan Survival Skills Seminars.
- Social Events: The GSA sponsors several events each year such as parties, movies nights, student luncheons, and study breaks. The GSA also co-sponsors other organizations' events that include graduate students. Download the Application for Funding/Cosponsorship*
- Town Meetings: The GSA gives each progrm $75 a year to hold its own town meeting to facilitate student involvement and promote the GSA.
- Programs
- Big Brother and Big Sister Program: Incoming students are assigned senior graduate students to help make their transition to graduate life easier.
- Computer Loan Program : Students can borrow Macs and PCs.
- Emergency Loan Program : Loans (up tp $250) with a one-month repayment are available to graduate student
